Transport of a 108-ton compact unit from St. Pölten to Limberg III pumped- storage power plant.
In March, we transported a 108-ton compact unit with a diameter of 4.60 m and a total transport weight of almost 160 tons from St. Pölten to the Limberg III pumped-storage power plant.
The transport was carried out with our new 10-axle low-bed combination over two nights from St. Pölten to Kaprun.
This was followed by a 6 km mountain drive with gradients of up to 14% through the access tunnel into the machine cavern.
To master the steep inclines, two additional tractor units with ballast weights were deployed.
Unloading was carried out using the overhead crane inside the power plant.
Thanks to our new extremely lightweight and compact low-bed combination, we were able to complete the transport from St. Pölten to Kaprun and into the cavern without the need for
additional reloading prior to the mountain drive.
Here a short insight
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our client, the authorities, our drivers, and everyone involved in the transport for the flawless execution!
